New CPT Code 76145

The AMA CPT Editorial Panel has introduced a new CPT code for medical physics dose evaluation for radiation exposures that exceeds the institutional review threshold. Target procedures included are diagnostic or therapeutic endovascular procedures, interventional radiology, cardiology, and endovascular neurosurgery.

Code expectations are that a physicist review procedure data for each sequence/series, calculate skin (or other relevant organs) dose and include relevant variables such as patient position, body habitus, etc. The physicist will prepare a report detailing the results and recommendations for follow-up.
